Here at Ming, bass fishing was notably productive, with anglers reporting excellent action for bigger fish with swimbaits and top water. One local angler Mark Modahl had a five fish bag from the weekend weighing in at 30lbs 15oz. Techniques such as employing crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and soft plastics like Senkos were effective in targeting largemouth bass, especially during early morning and late afternoon hours. While there were no recent trout stockings, the lake had been stocked with rainbow trout by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife on April 28. Anglers targeting trout found success near the marina and along shaded banks, using dough baits, spinners, and small jigs. Other species, such as catfish and bluegill, were also active. Catfish were commonly caught using cut bait and nightcrawlers, particularly during the warmer evening hours. Bluegill were found near submerged structures and responded well to small worms and crickets.
