Bass fishing at Lake Nacimiento has been excellent. Anglers have had success with a variety of techniques. Topwater lures like walking baits, poppers, and Whopper Ploppers were productive throughout the day. Additionally, shad-imitating crankbaits, jerkbaits, and small swimbaits have been responsible for plenty of bites. Finesse techniques such as small jigs, drop shots, and Ned rigs have also proven effective in enticing fish. White bass have been active, with anglers hooking up using topwater lures, white swimbaits, and spoons. Crappie were caught over submerged structure, responding well to small live minnows, minijigs, and small swimbaits. Catfish took dip bait, chicken liver, and cut mackerel.
