Lake Isabella held steady this week at 33 percent of capacity, and the bass bite continues to be strong. Anglers are finding fish from 10 to 30 feet deep, with the better-quality bass showing more consistently in the 25- to 30-foot range. Productive techniques include topwater presentations, mid-diving crankbaits, jerkbaits, and chatterbaits. Jigs in full brown, brown and purple, and black and red color patterns have also been effective, while deep-diving crankbaits fished below 20 feet are producing some of the larger bass. Crappie action remains fair, with anglers finding fish near Red’s and French Gulch marinas on mini jigs and small shiners. Catfish are still showing, with SSS Dip Bait, shad, and cut mackerel working well. Trout have been a bit tougher to locate, but a few are being caught in the North Fork area on artificials.
