Lake Isabella is currently holding at approximately 65% capacity, and the bass bite has been outstanding. Multiple fish over 5 pounds have been reported, including several 9-pounders and even a few double-digit bass caught on Saturday. Bass are widely distributed—holding shallow, off points, and around submerged trees. A standout catch came on a 7-inch Roboworm in the Margarita Mutilator color, while other anglers have found success with a variety of presentations. Productive lures include deep-diving crankbaits, Deep Mavrik and Stunna jerkbaits, green pumpkin/red flake jigs, drop shots, and Shakey heads. Topwater lures and flipping around trees have also produced quality bites. The crappie bite has remained strong, with anglers reporting good action on minijigs fished around shallow structure. Trout fishing continues to be productive, particularly in the North Fork area. Anglers have been catching fish on chartreuse Keitechs, Hook Up Baits, and spinners. Trollers are also doing well using Flicker Shads and Tasmanian Devils. The catfish bite has really picked up, especially during the evening hours. Both Lime Dyke and Engineer’s Point have been producing solid catches on cut bait, dip bait, and nightcrawlers. Whether fishing from shore or by boat, anglers are finding consistent action in these areas.
