The trout bite in the Upper Kern has been steady, with fish being caught on salmon eggs, jigs, pinched crawlers, and crickets. The Upper Kern received another stocking this week in Section 4, from Riverside Park in Kernville to Powerhouse #3. In the Lower Kern, anglers are reporting trout around Keysville on salmon eggs, trout jigs, and spinners. The largemouth and smallmouth bass bite has slowed, though a few fish are still being picked up on small reaction baits and compact jigs. As of this report, flows were at 492 CFS on the Upper Kern River and 413 CFS on the Lower Kern.
