Fishing at Ming Lake has been productive this week, especially for bass and bluegill. Early morning and evening sessions have been the most successful as temperatures rise through the day. Bass fishing has been very good. Anglers are finding success around submerged structure, weed lines, and along the dam. Chatterbaits, topwater frogs, and flipping baits have all produced solid fish. Glide baits and swimbaits are fooling better quality bass early and late in the day. Natural colors and bluegill patterns have been the most effective. Bluegill are active and biting well in shallow areas. Anglers using mealworms, waxworms, and small nightcrawler pieces under a bobber are finding fast action. Catfish reports have picked up slightly with a few anglers connecting on cut bait and nightcrawlers, mostly during the evening hours. Fishing pressure has been moderate, and the bite tends to slow in the midday heat, so targeting the low-light hours continues to be your best bet.
